This year, TEDxGosport returns by popular demand with the theme: Connection. Your idea worth sharing could explore your connection to your community, nature, dreams, history, or to Gosport itself. The theme is open to many interpretations, all to be shared with an audience from Gosport and beyond.
Finding your “idea worth sharing” can feel like staring into an ocean of life experiences, searching for the perfect droplet — or perhaps it is simply that one story you always find yourself telling at dinner parties. The TEDxGosport team will support speakers every step of the way, from calming nerves at a first audition to expert public speaking coaching, advice from previous TEDx speakers, and the opportunity to officially become a TEDx speaker.
Last year, two talks were selected by TEDx as Editor’s Picks on YouTube: Martin Birch-Foster’s talk (10k views) on rethinking how to make sport more inclusive through esports in schools, and Robert Bentley’s relatable talk (16k views) on the quiet power of a dog walk — connecting people to their pets, their environment, and each other.
As an event, TEDxGosport enriches Gosport’s cultural life by giving local voices a global platform and celebrating the stories, ideas, and creativity that make Gosport unique. TEDxGosport is proud to have the support of Hampshire Cultural Trust and Hampshire County Council as official sponsors of the event, helping make the events like this possible and to put us on the map.
TEDxGosport will take place on 5 September 2026. Applications to become a speaker close on 18 May, so now is the time to share your idea and connect your story with Gosport and the world and apply on the TEDxGosport website.
